What pendant packaging is used for

Sizes and how to measure

Measure the pendant, not the chain. Take its height, its width, and its thickness, including the bail, the loop it hangs from. Then decide how the chain will sit, whether in a loose curve around the pendant or folded in a tray. A locket is thicker than a flat pendant, so measure the full depth. Box styles and closures

A magnetic closure rigid box is the standard choice for custom pendant boxes, because it closes with a click and feels like a gift. A lift-off lid box is simple and shows the pendant when the lid comes off. A drawer box slides out like a small case and suits a keepsake piece. A tuck end carton is a low cost choice for retail, and a sleeve box slides over a tray for a clean look. A mailer box carries a pendant box through the mail without a second carton. Materials and thickness

Rigid boxes use greyboard of about 1.5 to 2 mm under a printed wrap, which gives the walls and lid a firm feel and protects the pendant. Folding cartons use paperboard of about 300 to 400 GSM and suit a light, low cost box. Kraft board gives a natural look. For mail, E-flute corrugated mailers add crush protection. Exact thickness is confirmed for each order. Every box uses eco-friendly materials sourced from certified suppliers, and recycled paperboard and kraft board are available.

Printing, coatings, and finishes

Print full color CMYK or match your brand with Pantone spot colors, on the outside only or the outside and inside. Matte lamination looks calm, gloss adds shine, and soft-touch adds a velvety feel that suits jewelry. Spot UV can pick out the logo, and foil in gold, silver, or rose gold adds an accent. Embossing and debossing add texture to a name. Pendant boxes with logo on the lid and a printed inside lid help the buyer remember the gift. Custom pendant packaging can also carry a hang tag or a brand card. Because the box is small, a single bold mark or a short name works better than a long line of text.

Inserts and windows

A paperboard insert holds the pendant in place. The insert can have a slit or a small slot for the bail, a notch to hold the chain, and a gentle channel for the chain to curve around the pendant, so the pendant sits upright and the chain stays clear. It can be covered in paper or fabric in a color that suits the metal, such as black for silver and gold, or cream for rose gold. For a pair or a set, the insert has a section for each piece. A pendant box rarely needs a window, because the point is to reveal the piece when it is opened. Custom pendant boxes can also include a small pocket for a note or a certificate.
