What custom sachets are used for

A sachet is a small flat packet that holds one portion of a product. It is sealed on three or four sides, and it opens with a tear notch. Brands use custom sachets for skincare and haircare samples, serums, lotions, face masks, sugar and sweetener, tea, coffee, drink powders, supplements, and spices. A custom sachet is light, ships flat, costs little per piece, and lets a customer try your product before they buy the full size. Hotels, cafes, and subscription boxes also use sachets for single servings, and a printed sachet carries your brand wherever it goes.

Sizes and how to measure

Sachet size is written as width x height. The size depends on the volume of product you plan to fill. A small sachet of about 2 in x 3 in holds a few milliliters or a teaspoon of powder, which suits a sample. A medium sachet of about 3 in x 4 in suits a single serving of sugar, tea, or powder, and a larger sachet of about 4 in x 6 in suits a full serving of a drink mix or a multi-use sample. Fill leaves a margin for the seals, so the usable space is smaller than the outer size. Send your fill volume and your product and we suggest the right size.

Materials, seals, and options

Custom printed sachets are made from layers of film, from foil film, or from paper based film. The layers give the sachet its strength and its barrier against light, air, and moisture, and the right mix depends on your product. Sachets come in matte, glossy, clear, white, and metalized finishes. The seal can be a three side seal, a four side seal, or a stick pack shape, and a tear notch makes it easy to open without scissors. Custom tea sachets and custom sugar sachets often use a paper based film or a foil film, depending on the barrier you need. Tell us what you plan to pack, and we suggest the best material and seal.

Printing and finishing

Custom printed sachets are usually full color printing on the front and back, with a matte or gloss surface. Because a sachet is small, keep the design simple: a bold brand name, a product name, and one or two details. A customized sachet can carry a scent name, a flavor, a QR code, or a short instruction. Keep the main message near the center of the front, and keep important text away from the seals and the tear notch. At a large run size, the same design can be printed on every sachet, and you can plan several designs, such as one for each flavor or each scent.

Labeling notes

If your sachet holds a product for sale, the sachet must carry the text that the law requires for your product, such as ingredients, net contents, and warnings. You supply the text and the layout, and we print what you send. We do not write or check label text or claims, so please have your final design reviewed by a person who knows the rules for your product. Food and drink packaging has its own rules for materials and labels, and you are responsible for the food contact rules for your product.

Supply artwork as a vector AI or PDF file with fonts outlined and images at 300 DPI in CMYK. If you have no artwork yet, free design support and a free consultation are included, and our team can help lay out the logo and the text from your brand colors. You review and approve the artwork before production starts.
