Box styles and closures

A magnetic closure rigid box is the standard choice for custom watch boxes, because it closes with a click and feels like a gift. A lift-off lid box is simple and reveals the watch when the lid comes off. A drawer box slides out like a small case and suits a keepsake watch. A book style box opens like a cover and shows the watch on the right. A sleeve box slides over a tray for a clean look. A mailer box carries a watch box through the mail without a second carton. Materials and thickness

Rigid boxes use greyboard of about 1.5 to 2 mm under a printed wrap, which gives the walls and lid a firm feel and protects the watch. Folding cartons use paperboard of about 300 to 400 GSM and suit a light, low cost box. Kraft board gives a natural look. For mail, E-flute or B-flute corrugated mailers add crush protection. Exact thickness is confirmed for each order. Every box uses eco-friendly materials sourced from certified suppliers, and recycled paperboard and kraft board are available.

Printing, coatings, and finishes

Print full color CMYK or match your brand with Pantone spot colors, on the outside only or the outside and inside. Matte lamination looks calm, gloss adds shine, and soft-touch adds a velvety feel that suits watches. Spot UV can pick out the logo, and foil in gold, silver, or rose gold adds an accent. Embossing and debossing add texture to a name. Custom watch boxes with a logo on the lid and a printed inside lid help the buyer remember the brand. For luxury watch packaging, a rigid box with a soft-touch coating, a foil logo, and a fabric lined interior is a common choice, and a deep color wrap in black, navy, or forest green keeps the focus on the watch. Inserts and windows

A paperboard insert holds the watch in place. A raised watch holder, covered in paper or fabric, supports the case and keeps the crystal off the lid, and a strap slot or a pair of board clips hold the band in a gentle curve. The insert can be covered in a color that suits the metal, such as black for steel, cream for gold, or gray for titanium. For a two watch box, the insert has a holder for each watch, and for a set, a section for the strap or tool. A window on the lid is optional for retail, and a die-cut window with clear film lets the buyer see the dial through the lid.
